Rumormongering: Jetpac sequel? Perfect Dark 007? Revolt?

Rumor blogs seem to be the 'thing' at the moment. After the 'Surfer Girl' blog showed up on the scene, similar ones have followed suit.

Surfer girl is a simple blog that viewers can check here. Claiming to be an insider, he or she has made many comments which have later shown to be true, as well as leaking some BETA pictures of Resistance 2 and other games.

Currently some of her copycats have thrown out a bunch of XBLA rumors to circle around. Take them with a grain of salt, but we'll see in the long run if they end up being true.

Skaterboy claims:

- "Vigilante 8 Arcade is still coming to XBLA later this year." Vigilante 8 was a Car Combat game for the Nintendo 64 and Playstation, with the sequel also making it to Dreamcast. A game like Vigilante 8 would certainly fill the void against Sony's Twisted Metal games. We haven't heard a peep out of Luxoflux - the original developers, since 2006, so who knows what they're up to.

Indiana Dunes proposes:

- "Nick Burton and the Rare team that brought you Jetpac for XBLA are currently working on a fresh HD update to Lunar Jetman." Lunar Jetman was the sequel to JetPac. With a very similar graphical style (check the wikipedia page). Since it uses similar graphical design it would be very easy to make an upgraded version of it - but whether or not Microsoft would allow it is another story.

- "ReVolt coming to XBLA late 2008/early 2009" Originally published by Acclaim, ReVolt was a remote control car racing game for the Playstation, Nintendo 64 and Dreamcast. ReVolt and many other Acclaim licenses were bought in 2006 by Throwback Entertainment, and supposedly a Next Gen version was on the cards. Hopefully it'll show up - ReVolt was one of the better Acclaim titles to come out in their last few years.

- "Geometry Wars "2" will be for both XBLA and PSN, published by Activision" With Geometry Wars Waves already a part of PGR4 and Galaxies essentially pushing the title to it's very limits, this seems.. almost unnecessary. Sierra did publish Galaxies, and they are a part of Actiblizzion, and now so is Bizarre, so it may be on the cards. We do know how much Activision loves their sequels! Maybe they should do a Wiz 'N Liz remake?

Another website, Xbox Evolved had this to say about Goldeneye 007:

- "One of our sources has revealed to us a few screen shots of the upcoming game, and the icon that you see for the game’s info in the dashboard is that of the PDZ Joanna Dark for placeholder purposes, but the games title is not Goldeneye 007; it is instead “Bean Project”." So maybe 007 will be coming out way, but changed to be Perfect Dark instead of James Bond. It could happen, but I'm sure more people would like Bond than Joanna.

All nice rumors with a chance of being true, but until they're announced or show up on a ratings website, don't worry about them.

Your second game this week is: Chessmaster Live!

Still waiting for that ultimate Chess experience? Then Chessmaster Live might be what you're looking for.

"A downloadable version of Ubisoft’s hit “Chessmaster” series, “Chessmaster Live” allows players to test and tune their chess skills against the AI or opponents of all aptitudes around the globe via Xbox LIVE. “Chessmaster Live” features five original chess variants, including a Message Chess option, which allows gamers to engage in matches over the span of several days, weeks or even months. The title boasts both beautifully crafted 3D chess sets inspired by luxury chess board designer House of Staunton."

The game will be available on Wednesday for 800 Microsoft Points. Chessmaster is well known for its excellent Chess AI, so if you're hurting from Spyglass' board games, this might be what you're looking for, or Shotest Shogi (A popular chess variant in Japan) coming later this year via AI Factory.

Interview: X3F goes commando with Ben Judd

Xbox360Fanboy.com have posted a new interview with Japanese Capcom Producer Ben Judd.

"We know that Master D and the Badds are coming back for Rearmed in North America, but what about Japan? Will the Japanese version feature Nazis and Hitler as enemies, as in the original Japanese Bionic Commando?

That's a good question. Rearmed has been titled "Master D's Resurrection Plan" in Japan. We've literally taken the English translation and re-translated that into Japanese to form the base of the game. We needed to make sure we had one unified story and since the current political climate and ratings standards would make releasing the original unedited version in Japan impossible, I think it's the best way to present the game."

Go check it out.
